The First Burn Matters

Beeswax is a naturally renewable resource that burns cleanly, purifies the air, and carries a subtle scent of honey and earth.

The first time you light your candle, let it burn long enough for the wax to melt all the way to the edges—this can take 2–3 hours for smaller jars and up to 4 hours for larger ones. This creates an even wax pool and prevents tunneling.

Wick trimming

Keep your wick trimmed to around 5mm before each burn. This helps your candle burn cleanly and reduces smoke or soot. Simply pinch off the burnt tip once the wax has cooled.

If you notice soot on the jar, wipe it gently with a damp cloth after the candle cools. Beeswax burns clean, but small adjustments (like trimming the wick) make a difference.

For optimal performance, limit each burn session to 3–4 hours.

Once your candle is finished, clean out the jar and reuse it for storage, plants, or décor—or recycle it responsibly.

B

Burn safety

Place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from drafts, pets, and little hands.

Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Extinguish the flame if the wick mushrooms or flickers too much—let it cool, trim, and relight.

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended. Extinguish all candles when you leave a room or before going to sleep.
  • Trim the wick to ¼ inch each time before lighting. This helps prevent the flame from getting too large.
  • Follow the 2 foot rule – don’t place a burning candle near clothing, books, curtains or anything flammable.
  • Keep lit candles away from drafts, ceiling fans and any air currents.
  • Extinguish a candle if the flame gets too close to the candle holder or container.
  • Place burning candles at least 3 inches apart from one another.
  • A burning candle should not be used as a nightlight.
  • Don’t burn a candle all the way down. For a margin of safety, discontinue burning a candle when 1/2 inch of wax remains in the container.

FAQs about candle care

Answers to the things you’re wondering — from shipping to scent details.

Let your candle burn long enough on the first burn—until the wax melts all the way to the edges of the jar. This helps prevent tunneling and ensures an even burn every time.

For the best results, limit each burn to 2–4 hours. This keeps the wax pool healthy and protects your candle’s scent and longevity.

This usually means the wick is too long. Before each burn, trim the wick to around 5mm to ensure a clean, steady flame.

Let the candle cool completely. Then gently pinch off the blackened tip with your fingers or use wick trimmers for precision.

Absolutely! Once the wax is gone, clean the jar with warm soapy water, and use it for storage, a small vase, or even a new candle refill.
